COMPOSER | PIANIST

Oscar Pan is an award-winning composer for the screen and concert stage. Being a travel enthusiast and arts fanatic, he is always drawn to cross-cultural collaborations and new sounds that speak to our living world. 

In 2018, Oscar assisted in writing soundtracks for a Chinese 3D animated feature film Adventure in Journey to the West and video games such as The Great Wall Guardians and Crossfire. In 2021, he scored for an advertisement for a series of sports films broadcast through the SNY Network. His recent works include the score to Sonnet Crown for NYC (2021), a poetic documentary commissioned by and played at The Shed in New York, the score to HÓNG (2022), a Chinese experimental fashion film streamed on the FNL Network, and Le Train (2023), a quartet for woodwinds and piano that received the Merit Awards in the National Young Composer Competition for the Tribeca New Music Festival. Currently, Oscar is working on the score to Cut Your Wings and Fly (2023), a Moroccan experimental dance film that speaks about child abuse. 

Oscar studied music composition with a specialization in screen scoring at New York University (BM 2021). In 2019, he had the opportunity to study composition in Paris with one of Messiaen’s students Michel Merlet at L’École Normale de Musique de Paris and learned avant-garde electroacoustic music at IRCAM. He will be graduating from Columbia College Chicago with an MFA in Music Composition for the Screen in May 2023.
